The 35 year-old reality TV star and former NBA Lamar Odom was hospitalized after being discovered unconscious at the Dennis Hof’s Love Ranch brothel in Crystal, Nevada, 13 October 2015, Tuesday. He is reportedly taking cocaine and sexual performance enhancer, lying in his bed with pinkish fluid coming from his mouth and nose. He was taken to a hospital in Las Vegas and is in critical condition after he suffered brain damage and at least one stroke.
Lamar Odom is a free agent American professional basketball player. Over three days, he was taking up to 10 tabs of a sexual performance enhancer and been doing cocaine. This incident is not the first time he was found taking prohibited drugs. He was suspended during the 2000-2001 season after violating the National Basketball Association’s anti-drug policy.
On Wednesday, Nye County Sheriff Sharon Wehrly told reporters that Odom had been using cocaine on Saturday. The day he checked in to the brothel in the town of Crystal, but that it wasn’t known whether he had continued to do so during the weekend. After the incident, authorities took Odom’s blood sample to find out if he is overdosed on drugs or alcohol.
Las Vegas police will be doing the testing for possible drug intake of Lamar Odom said Nye County Sheriff’s Detective Michael Eisenloffel, Wednesday. Odom has been into some controversies involving alcohol abuse. He was arrested on 30 August 2013 for driving under the influence and pleaded no contest to the charge and accepted a sentence of three years’ probation and three months of alcohol abuse treatment on 9 December of the same year.
Wednesday, while Odom is lying in his bed in the hospital, Rev. Jesse Jackson visited him. He gave some information related to Odom’s health condition. Rev. Jesse Jackson said, “Apparently from what the doctor said, he was much better off today than yesterday. He at least has some responsiveness now. He’s got tubes in him now, but we felt inspired by his presence. We’re just holding hands and hoping he can bounce back.”
Lamar Odom had a great contribution in basketball industry. He is the first player in history to win both an NBA championship and FIBA gold in the same year. He was named to the NBA All-Rookie Team and played four seasons with the Clippers and in 2011 named the NBA Sixth Man of the Year. He also won the 2009 and 2010 NBA championship with the Los Angeles Lakers. IMAGE/Christian Petersen/Getty Image
