Davao Mayor revealed to run for president in 2016 in a meeting with former Philippine President Ramos.
The 70 year-old Davao Mayor Rodrigo Duterte had a meeting with former President Fidel V. Ramos on Monday, Manila. The politician then reportedly admit to Ramos his plan to run for president in 2016. Since last year, he has been urged to run the said position and as of August 2015 he has made hints to the media for possible intent to run. In a survey, he followed Senator Grace Poe who have issues on citizenship and residency.
Duterte is known for his willingness to remain peace and order in his territory, Davao. However stress to consult his family first before making the decision for running president. He was given some tips by Ramos on how to run the nation, during his presidency, he was admired by many as he regain international confidence in the Philippine economy. He also supports death penalty and signed bill involving electric chair in 1996.
Being a man who stand for peace and hate illegality, “If you are doing an illegal activity in my city, if you are a criminal or part of a syndicate that preys on the innocent people of the city, for as long as I am the mayor, you are a legitimate target of assassination,” Mayor Rodrigo Duterte said in 2009.
According to source, “FVR had only kind words for Mayor Duterte and his pointers and advice are like those coming from a concerned father to a dutiful son, who has set his eyes on a noble crusade,” NP is courting Duterte as part of a political concession to Manny Villar with wife Senator Cynthia Villar, reportedly running for vice-president in the 2016 polls, told reporters.
The newly-designated official Duterte spokesperson Peter Tiu Laviña, confirm that the mayor has been meeting possible supporters and allies. The said meeting then discussed possible alliance, between parties of NP and PDP-Laban to support Mayor Rodrigo Duterte to run Presidency in 2016.
Sen. Cynthia Villar of NP claimed that they were invited by PDP-Laban to join the said meeting. She said that two parties regularly meets, to discuss different issues. ”We’re always meeting with PDP Laban. It’s like sharing of opinion. We always meet regularly together with Koko (PDP-Laban President Aquilino Pimentel III). We’re talking of the problems of the Philippines.”
Filipinos especially supporters of Duterte are waiting for him to confirm issues regarding rumors on running for president in 2016. As of now, Davao Mayor haven’t announced the plan in public. IMAGE/FACEBOOK
