Residents should heed evacuation as Powerful Typhoon Nangka hits Japan, killing at least two people on the island of Shikoku.
Typhoon Nangka is currently a weakening tropical cyclone impacting western Japan.
Nangka hit the Japanesse mainland, killing two men on the island of Shikoku and 17 people injured.
Thousands of residents expected to leave the area for their own safety due to the threat of flooding and landslides.
After three days of slow strengthening, Nangka was upgraded to a severe tropical storm on July 6, and then to a typhoon later that day.
Nangka, tropical disturbance over the Marshall Islands and west of the International Dateline, the eleventh named storm of the annual typhoon season.
On July 11, the typhoon fall to a Category 1-equivalent typhoon, however, began strengthening again late July 12, reaching a secondary peak as a Category 3-equivalent typhoon and made landfall over Muroto, Kōchi of Japan on 16 July.
Heavy rains impacted much of central Japan, high winds from Nangka tore roofs from homes and downed trees and power lines.
According to Evan Duffey, AccuWeather Meteorologist , “Based on radar images, Nangka made landfall late Thursday evening local time in eastern Shikoku island,” “Sustained winds of 55 mph occurred near landfall in Muroto, Japan.”
Typhoon approach in the Pacific led Japanese, weather agency warned everyone for flood, landslides and high waves.
Citing police Kyodo, said the two men who died due to Typhoon Nangka, a 71-year-old trying to reinforce window glass and 85-year-old apparently gone out to farmland, both in Hyogo prefecture.
