JASON Day, first major victory at 2015 PGA Championship

Australian golfer won after finishing second Jordan Spieth in the 2015 PGA Championship.

Jason Day, 27 year-old Australian professional golfer won his first major victory, current 97th 2015 PGA Championship in Whistling Straits on the Straits Course in Kohler, Wisconsin. Day play a five under par last round, prevent Jordan Speith from winning a third major championship.

He is the first player to finish at 20 under in a major and surpassed Rory McIlroy as number one in the Official World Golf Rankings. His first broke into the world’s top ten, rising to world number nine, June 2011, after his runner-up finish at the U.S. Open. He won his first WGC title in 2014 in the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship and ranked world number four.

Jason Day is a PGA Tour member and a member of the Golf Australia National Squad. In July 2007, he won his first Nationwide Tour event at the Legend Financial Group Classic. This time, named as the youngest man to win on any of the PGA Tour’s three tours.

He had set his record finishing 20 under par, winning a major golf tournament. “Overall I’m very pleased with the way I came back.”, “The putter was rolling today, which was great, ” he said.

Jason Day stated, “It’s been a long journey, I didn’t expect to grow up and be on the PGA tour.”, “Winning is pretty special, I didn’t expect I was going to cry, a lot of emotion has come out, I have been so close so many times and fallen short.

After winning the HP Byron Nelson Championship in 2010, he became the youngest Australian to win a PGA Tour event and gained entry into first ever major championship at the 2010 Open Championship after Greg Norman dropped. He won his first World Golf Championship event in February 2014 at WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship and lifted him to fourth in the world rankings. IMAGE/REUTERS
