Sydney actor accused of Thailand bombing

Model and actor accused responsible of Thailand bombing after CCTV footage released.

Thailand bombing occurred 17 August 2015 outside the Erawan Shrine at the Ratchaprasong intersection in Pathum Wan District, Bangkok, killing 23 people and injured 123. Trends on social media, created fear to Thai nationals, as well as tourist in the country.

After the tragedy, a CCTV footage released and identified as the primary suspect of the said bombing. A man who was walking into the shrine with a backpack, appeared young and slightly built, wearing yellow T-shirt and dark shorts.

Sunny Burns, an Australian actor, teacher in English and model said to be the person in CCTV and responsible of Thailand bombing. Burns lives in Bangkok where he acts, felt shocked being accused of the said crime, as identified by authorities image found in CCTV footage, man threw an explosive device from a bridge.

Burns posted a selfie on his Instagram account, saying: “Talking with the police. I forgive everyone who spread those horrible rumours about me.”I love this country and let’s fight together. Let’s find this bomber. I’m not a terrorist but I’m a ting tong actor.”, “People were accusing me of being a terrorist…I had no other choice but to go to the police…”  in his meeting with police.

The Thailand bombing was then considered as the worst attack happened in the country. Most of its victims were tourist who just visit the shrine. Royal Thai Police reported, twenty-one people were killed, including 10 Thais, three Chinese, two people from Hong Kong, four Malaysians, one Filipino and one Singaporean and two more fatalities were added, one Indonesian and a third from Hong Kong.

Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha, said: “there have been minor bombs or just noise, but this time they aim for innocent lives. They want to destroy our economy, our tourism, and a “worst-ever attack” on the country.

The incident gives fear and in misery to the Thai nationals, a new form of violence then was found. Responsible for the attack is still under investigation, authorities believed to have politically motivated.
