British parents don’t want children to be influenced by Miley Cyrus.
- According to a survey,78 percent of British parents don’t want their children to be influenced by ‘off-the-rails’ Miley Cyrus.
- The study was conducted to 2,287 British parents.
- British parents asked all of whom have at least one child under the age of 10, which celebrity role models concerned them.
- British parents were asked: ”Are there any celebrities you would hate for your children to idolise?”
As they were asked the surveyor provided them the list of celebrities, parents ticked off their celebrities as role model and bad influence for their children. 78 per cent revealed that under no circumstances would they want their children to see skin-baring, Miley Cyrus as a role model. And more than half saw similarly scantily-clad rapper, Nicki Minaj as a potentially negative influence on their kids, Kim Kardashian (43 per cent), Kristen Stewart (36 per cent), and controversial,Rihanna (34 per cent).
When it came to male stars, more than half of parents (56 per cent) ranked rapper Kanye West as a bad influence, pop star Justin Bieber (55 per cent), One-Directioner, Zayn Malik (41 per cent), outlandish actor Shia LaBeouf (38 per cent) and scatty reality star Joey Essex (25 per cent).
When the concerned parents were questioned on the reason they deemed the stars as negative role models, the most common response was: ‘I don’t want my child to end up going off the rails.‘
When it comes to positive role model, 34 per cent Kate Middleton, Michelle Keegan at 32 per cent , Taylor Swift at 27 per cent, Beyoncé and actress Angelina Jolie was also in the list. For male celebrity role models, on top Ed Sheeran - who has recently made a habit of serenading loved-up couples, 26 per cent One Direction star, Harry Styles, hard-working British Formula One racer, Lewis Hamilton (20 per cent), bubbly comedian James Corden (17 per cent), and pop icon and now-father-of-one, Justin Timberlake (14 per cent).
Chris Johnson, Head of Operations of the survey said, “It’s no surprise that parents are worried about celebrity influence on their children, particularly when you look at the likes of Miley Cyrus. She started out as the perfect teen idol in Hannah Montana and then when she reached a certain age, she decided to rid herself of the clean-teen image. Parents tend to have high hopes for their children and it’s typically not a parent’s dream for them to prance around with not a lot of clothes on, partying their lives away. Each parent is individual in their wants and needs for their own children, but ultimately the child will turn out to be the person they want to be and will make their own decisions,” he said.IMAGE/UrbanSplatter
